Artist Statement
As part of a journey to understand our role in our ecosystem, my nature-inspired watercolours aim to call for an idyllic state of mind, each of them as a reminder of an ephemeral trait of paradise that flows as a manifesto of life.
My creations often blend the human figure with subtle traces of social and environmental landscapes, embodying diverse cultural heritages while contemplating our link to natural resources through generations.
Using vibrant hues, broken brushstrokes and coloured lines, I draw the attributes and patterns that strike my attention from nature and life.
My artistic journey has been rooted in the need to create and understand the complex relationship between identity and natural habitats, whilst facing the challenge of developing a sustainable art practice.
Artist Bio
Growing up in Concon, Chile, nature always provided a sense of connection and inspiration; whether it be a dramatic sky over the Pacific, the mighty Andes Mountains, seasonal blossoms in the Atacama Desert, or the wilderness of the native forest.
Eileen did her first Fine Arts foundation year in 2002, at Escuela de Bellas Artes de Valparaiso, prior to studying Professional Advertising. After graduating in 2007, Eileen went back to study Fine Arts at Escuela de Bellas Artes de Viña del Mar (2008-2011), specialising in oil painting for 3 years, while working independently with SMEs as an art director and digital marketing consultant.
In late 2011, Eileen landed a full-time job in Professional Services, which meant taking a longer-than-expected break from her art career. Her work experience includes leading a competitive intelligence research team across a range of business sectors and markets, as well as innovation & project management.
Having become a mother of 2, and deciding to take time away from the corporate world, Eileen moved to London early in 2019 and currently lives close to the River Thames and Richmond Park. Eileen resumed her artistic journey discovering her passion for watercolours during the first lockdown, when welcoming her third son.
